stay at home

Today’s photo shows the Ratcliffe condos in Uptown Charlotte. Not a bad place to “stay at home” during the coronavirus pandemic. Like many we have a supply of non-perashable food and order perashable groceries online. We stay indoors most of the day but each evening we go for a walk while keeping distance from others.

Note that the sign posts are for Edgar Wisconsin, Rice Virginia, and Burroughs George. These are one of several sign post honoring authors. Edgar Rice Burroughs is one of my favorite authors because he created Tarzan.

Following is realtors website about the Ratcliffe condos. The address is 435 South Tryon Street.

Charlotte Plaza

Today’s photo shows the Charlotte Plaza office tower. Although, the tower is only the 15th tallest in Charlotte, it stands out with it’s distinctive black glass exterior.

We enjoy the building primarily because the offices, of our doctor, are in the building, Bentley’s restaurant is on the top floor, and a Starbucks is in the lobby.

Following is a link to a Wikipedia article about the Charlotte Plaza. It is located at 201 S. College street.

Alley Charlotte Center

Construction continues at a rapid pace and the Alley building is one of several active sites. When this photo was taken we counted ten construction cranes.

The taller building to the left is the Duke Energy Center. The building, in the reflection, is the Bank of America Tower.

Following is a link to the Alley Charlotte Center website. The construction site is at the intersection of Tryon and Stonewall.

Rainbow hallway

Today we share a colorful hallway which connects two office towers in Uptown Charlotte.

During the work week, this hallway is frequently used by business people. One of which is me ;)

The hallway is also part of my daily walk to work. And, part of my walk to the YMCA which is where I was headed today.

bicycles and more bicycles

Charlotte has been invaded. There are bicycles everywhere (smile).

There are several companies providing the bicycles. A few of the companies are: lime bike, spin, and ofo.

Apparently the concept is “dockless bike shares” and you leave them wherever you complete your ride.

We have not ridden them however it is impossible to stroll in Uptown and not notice them. There are several per block. And when we venture outside of Uptown we see them in the South End, in Mid-town, Dilworth, and I’m assume many other locations.

Amelie’s French Bakery

Today was overcast and rainy. A stay inside sort of day. So for our outing we strolled through the Overstreet Mall to Amalie’s.

From the photo, you can see that Amalie’s is fun and eclectic.

As regulars we recommend Amalie’s for the atmosphere, wine, food, and for their baguettes. Oh, and their pastries a very good too.

Amalie’s French Baker is at 380 South College.
