Honorary Consulate of Italy

While on a walk, I noticed this sign for the Honorary Consulate of Italy. What interested me is that the consulate is called honorary. Google searches find that there are honorary consulates, for many nations, across the US. A Google search for “why are Consulates called Honorary” finds the following explanation:

  • Honorary consuls are called “honorary“ because they perform their work on an honorary basis and are not paid a fee for their services.

The Uptown Farmers Market has been around for a while however when they added this mural I knew they should be highlighted on Charlotte Daily Photo. Love the colors and the messages in the mural.

Today’s photo shows another new restaurant in uptown Charlotte. What I especially like, about this restaurant, is the roof top patio. Also, their food presentation is beautiful.

Salata, a salad kitchen, has opened and the tables are full. There website says

  • your kitchen away from home

  • community comes first
  • wherever life takes you, take salad
  • make your salad count

Today’s photo shares another “token of inspiration” which is part of the Of Earth and Sky CLT art initiative. The full message is:

  • I know it is magic
  • you know it is magic
  • may the dirt below our feet
  • kick up swirl and come alive.

Today is theme day in the City Daily Photo community, the theme is winners, and our contribution is this photo showing an “on the right path” message. The message was found on the steps of the Mint Museum in uptown Charlotte. The message is from Marley Noel. There is even a QR code which leads your to an arts initiative called Of Earth and Sky CLT.

Their website states that they are providing “tokens of inspiration and poetic reminders of hope”.

Today’s photo shows an old tree in Marshall Park in uptown Charlotte. Personally I like the scene because of the skyline in the background. A contrast between old and new.

Today’s photo shows the Nascar Hall of Fame in uptown Charlotte. The sign in the middle says “This is our sport. This is our house”. With an emphases on the word “our”. And there is a lot of reality, in the word “our” given Charlotte embraces the sport.

Following is a link the website for the Nascar Hall of Fame. I like that the website photos show visitors wearing mask. We are also sharing a link for today’s photo saved on Flickr with the caption: The Nascar Hall of Fame in uptown Charlotte.

dog in a park

photo taken by Denton Harryman and shared on Flickr as creative commons (CC0)

Today’s photo shows a dog in a park. However, what I found as unique was that the dog appeared to be resting comfortably on his personal blanket. And then I thought this scene must have a story. So I waited to see which human came to join the dog .. and everyone just walked past. So maybe this really is a dog who brought a blanket to the park for a little relaxation.

Following is a link showing Google images about dogs in Freedom Park in Charlotte. In addition we are sharing a link for today’s photo saved on Flickr with the caption: Dog in a park, on blanket, and the focus of this photo.

outdoor seating

Today’s photo was taken on our road trip to the mountains. This is the patio at the Town Tavern. There is good food, music, drinks, and most importantly .. cool mountain air.

Note that, although Connie and I are vaccinated, we are not ready to eat inside a restaurant. However, we do enjoy restaurants with outdoor seating. Unfortunately, due to the heat, our only recent restaurant experiences have been early morning brunch. It was nice to enjoy an evening meal.
