Today’s photo shows another business on East boulevard in Dilworth near uptown Charlotte. As the photo shows they strive to draw you in with stripes on the sidewalk. Unfortunately there was no sign so I cannot share the business name.

giraffes

On a recent walk we noticed giraffes on East Boulevard in Dilworth near uptown Charlotte. The sign indicates the building is available for lease and giraffes certainly draw attention. While researching the following phrase was found “East Boulevard has history, a splash of color, and many homes that have been repurposed into businesses“.

Following is an article, from the Charlotte Observer, about East Boulevard. In addition we are sharing a link for today’s photo saved on Flickr with the caption: Giraffes found on East Boulevard in Dilworth near uptown Charlotte.

patio dinning

Now that we have been vaccinated, we have chosen Tuesday night as date night. In addition we try to frequent locally owned restaurants which offer outdoor dinning. Last night we enjoyed the patio at 300 East which is one of our favorites. Connie had Salmon and I enjoyed a shrimp panini sandwich.

Following is a link to the 300 East website. In addition we are sharing a link for today’s photo saved on Flickr with the caption: Patio dinning at 300 East restaurant on East Boulevard in Dilworth near uptown Charlotte.

Waiting room

I took this photo in my doctors waiting room today. The pattern and shadows were interesting.

As one might expect; my doctor asked that I lose weight, exercise, and reduce stress. It’s the last ask that is the most difficult. However, I find that sharing a photograph helps :)

Actually, my report was good and I was pleased.

happy Easter

On Easter we went for a walk, on the Little Sugar Creek Greenway, and meet lots of people who were enjoying the day as well. This young man was greeting everyone with an enthusiastic Happy Easter.

I’m sharing this photo because his greeting put a smile on my face. Also, I want to share positive images of people wearing mask.

Revolution

While on a walk yesterday, I snapped this photo and I’m sharing it today to because I wanted to capture the love, love, love sign. Also, I was intrigued by the gentleman in the photo. He flash a peace sign which I wish I had captured. While preparing the photo I noticed the license plate which says “Down the Rabbit Hole”.

Truist Park

Today’s photo shows our empty baseball stadium, called Truist Park, in uptown Charlotte. But it will not be empty long. The first home game is scheduled for April 6th. Truist Park was previously know as BB&T Park. However, the name changed along with the bank’s name.

Personally, I think it may be a little early to open sporting events. However, I was pleased to find that the Charlotte Knights’ website explains their Covid health and safety protocols include limited capacity, social distancing, and mask.

Truist Park is home to the Charlotte Knights, a Minor League Baseball (MiLB) team. Following is a link to the Charlotte Knights’ website. In addition we are sharing a link for today’s photo saved on Flickr with the caption: Truist Park in uptown Charlotte.

Note that this photo has been touched up using Photoshop. Following is a link showing the original photo which included a wire running directly through the middle of the photo. Photoshop’s healing brush removed the wire from the sky but if you look closely you can see the wire still crosses in front of the mid rise building just to the left of center.

Also, of interest. If you zoom in there is a window washing crew busy at work on about the 19 floor of the white building just right of center in the photo.

Charlotte

Today’s photo shows a sign at the Charlotte Convention Center. With the help of photoshop I played with the camera distortion to highlight the sign. The three tall office towers (from left to right) are Three Wells Fargo Center, Two Wells Fargo Center, and One Wells Fargo Center.

The Convention Center is on the right of the photo.

The church styled building, on the left of the photo, is called Benedict Hall and is part of the Saint Peter Catholic Church.

Following is a link to the campus map for Saint Peter Catholic Church. I especially like their meditation garden. In addition we are sharing a link for today’s photo saved on Flickr with the caption: A sign at the Charlotte Convention Center.

Personal notes: The office towers are where I worked before the pandemic. The building, behind Benedict Hall, is the Ratcliffe Condos which is where my wife and I live. Now that I work from home; the Ratcliffe is my office.

Seating ReArrangements

Today’s photo shows an art display called Seating ReArrangements. The art was created by Ellie Richards and the sign says “Seating ReArrangements is an engaging composition of ten motion-illuminated chairs on the Dilworth Artisan Station Plaza. Viewable from the Rail Trail, visitors will be invited by rotating colors of embedded LED lights within plywood chairs to this socially-distanced seating arrangement”.

There is an outstanding photo, of the art display, on their website. I wish I had than the photo.

Flower Child

The Flower Child is one of our favorite restaurants however, because of the pandemic, it has been a year since we have eaten there. Fortunately they are still in business and now that we have received our vaccine shots we plan to enjoy a meal on their patio. Afterwards we may even relax in a yellow chair.

Note that yellow is a theme along the Rail Trail in Charlotte. Following is a link to internet images of yellow along the Rail Trail. In addition we are sharing a link for today’s photo saved on Flickr with the caption: The Flower Child restaurant is one of our favorites however it has been a year since we ate there.

empty barstools

Today’s photo shows empty barstools which are a common scene during the pandemic. Although the cattle are not as common :) The website, for the All American Pub, states that they are open and “committed to our customer and employee safety”.

Interestingly their website also said: “All Employees have completed the Count On Me NC Certification”.

Following is a link to the Count On Me NC website which includes training and a “mutual commitment to keep everyone healthy and safe.

Ruby Sunshine

Another popular restaurant is Rudy Sunshine which brings “Big Easy” twist on breakfast and brunch classics. As the photo shows Rudy Sunshine is located at 332 West Bland Street in the Southend of Charlotte. They are proud of their address :)

Zoom in, on the photo, and you will see there is a line out of the door. Their website explains that for safety customers must wait outside until their table is ready. And the tables are spaced six feet apart. In addition, they have a large covered patio with additional outdoor seating.

Following is a link to Rudy Sunshine website. Also, we are sharing a link for today’s photo saved on Flickr with the caption: Rudy Sunshine is at 332 W Bland Street in the Southend of Charlotte.

brunch

Today’s photo shows an outdoor brunch at Lincoln Street Kitchen & Cocktails. This scene can be found in the Southend of Charlotte. The weather is still a little cool so a fire pit would be nice. As the weather continues to improve, brunch on the roof would be interesting.

Following is a link to the Lincoln Street Kitchen & Cocktails website. Also, we are sharing a link for today’s photo saved on Flickr with the caption: Outdoor brunch is even better with a fire place or on a roof top.

busy busy busy

The Southend, of Charlotte, is a combination of busy and empty scenes. Unfortunately some businesses have not made it. However, as today’s photo shows there are busy scenes as well. Lots of potential for increased business and increased spread of the virus.

You can tell from the perspective that I was walking in the street when I took this photo.

Restaurants offering outdooring dinning are the busiest. Given, we are now vaccinated we enjoyed an outdoor meal last night. We arrived early and it was easily to maintain physical distance.

Following is a link showing images of Outdoor Seating in the Southend. Also, we are sharing a link for today’s photo saved on Flickr with the caption: The Southend of Charlotte is a mix of empty and busy. This photo shows a crowd on the sidewalk while other scenes will show empty store fronts.

Southend

Today’s photo shows flags found in Charlotte’s Southend where there is a “discovery around every corner”. In this photo you can see the cherry blossoms, the Flower Child restaurant, and Charlotte’s pink condo.

Note that I used photoshop to push the colors on this photo however that is how I see the Southend. Brightly colored and very interesting. The Southend is full of eclectic restaurants, beer gardens, young people, and art around every corner. And it is very near Uptown Charlotte.

Following is a link to the Southend CLT website. Also, we are sharing a link for today’s photo saved on Flickr with the caption: Flags, found in the South End of Charlotte, share the message that there is a discovery around every corner.
