looking down on a construction crane

Looking down on a construction crane in Uptown Charlotte
Today we show a different perspective … looking down on a construction crane taken from the patio at the Fahrenheit Lounge on the top of the Skye Condos.

This photo was taken at 222 South Caldwell Street.

fish sculptures and fountains

A fish sculptures and fountains on the Green in Uptown Charlotte
Our Saturday morning rituals include taking coffee to the Green (a park in front of our condo) and enjoying the activity. We always sit on a bench next to the fish sculptures and fountains. The reason is because they come with built in entertainment. Watching the children play is a joy and this Saturday there was a wedding at Saint Peters Catholic Church next to the fountains. In the background of this photo you can see one of those attending in a very colorful dress.

This photo was taken at 435 South Tryon Street in Uptown Charlotte. Following is a link to a Wikipedia article about the Green.

good morning special

The good morning special at Dean and Deluca in Uptown Charlotte
The good morning special at Dean and Deluca in Uptown Charlotte was French Toast and bacon. And the gentleman behind the sign skillfully and graciously prepares our breakfast every Saturday. We always order bagel sandwiches but the special was very appealing. But what caught my eye was the #goodmorning hashtag (smile).

This photo was taken at 201 South Tryon Street. Following is a link to the Dean and Deluca website.

Two Wells Fargo plaza

Two Wells Fargo Plaza, a playful sort of place.
Two Wells Fargo plaza is an enjoyable public space in Uptown Charlotte. In addition to the fountain there are also tables and a two story gazebo. This time of year I especially enjoy that the gazebo has fans … Connie and I discussed what to call the gazebo and even brought up Google street view … I’ll have to post a picture and ask you thoughts.

This photo was taken at 301 South Tryon Street and this is a street view of the gazebo

b-cycle green guy

A b-cycle green guy shuttling bicycles between stations in Uptown Charlotte. There website says “Charlotte b-cycle is one of the largest urban bike sharing systems in the Southeast. With 200 blue bikes and 24 stations strategically placed throughout Uptown and surrounding neighborhoods”. The way it works is that with a membership you can select a bike, ride for 30 minutes, check it in, and repeat. The stations are no more than 30 minutes apart so you can ride throughout Uptown Charlotte.

This photo was taken at The Green near where we live.

fountain at One Wells Fargo

Enjoying a fountain at One Wells Fargo plaza in Uptown Charlotte

While we strolled through Uptown this weekend I stopped to take this photo of a fountain at One Wells Fargo plaza. Given summer is in full swing and the temperature regularly hits 90+ degrees Fahrenheit there is a good chance we will be stopping to take photos of more fountains (smile).

This photo was taken at 301 South College Street. Note the 90 Fahrenheit is 32.222 degrees Celsius and I also found that one should capitalize references to temperature scales, whether written out or abbreviated.

mystery convention

Backpacks headed to a mystery convention in Uptown Charlotte
We went for a walk Sunday morning and noticed backpacks everywhere. There were so many that we asked what was up and these guys they said they were attending a mystery convention … then they smiled and said there were geeks (smile). I assume their backpacks were full of cards or comic books which they traded. I have googled the subject but have not found the name of the event or a website. But we can attest it was well attended given we saw several hundred people with backpacks headed to the Convention Center.

couple enjoying the view

A couple enjoying the view of Uptown Charlotte
Recently I took this photo of a couple enjoying the view of Uptown Charlotte. I thought they made a good follow-up to the bridal photo shoot shared yesterday. Better yet I’ll will an eye out for a family with children or a mature couple holding hands as they stroll. There are all sorts of follow-up photos for a bridal photo shoot (smile).

This photo was taken at the Fahrenheit rooftop lounge at 222 South Caldwell Street in Uptown Charlotte.
