Hearst Tower

The Hearst Tower in Uptown Charlotte
Today’s photo shows the Hearst Tower … it is hard to share photos from Uptown Charlotte and not always take a photo looking up (smile) … to us this building represents several things, for example: when walking in the Overstreet Mall this is the final connecting building and we have to turn around here. But more importantly just across the street is the Dunhill Hotel bar which is our favorite place to eat. Also the Blue Restaurant and Bar are on the ground floor of the Hearst … We especially enjoy the live music performances at the Blue.

This photo was taken at 214 North Tryon. Following is a link to the Hearst Tower website.

Jimmy Johns delivery

A Jimmy Johns delivery cyclist in Uptown Charlotte
The food is good and there is Jimmy Johns delivery … this scene also presented a photographic challenge given the cyclist was in shadow … Photoshop helped.

This photo was taken at 230 S Tryon St. Following is a link to the Jimmy John’s online ordering website

Charlotte skyline

The Charlotte skyline lit in bright sunlight.
Living in uptown presents a photographic challenge … Often the Charlotte skyline is lit in bright sunlight while the location I’m taking the photo from is in shadow from a different building. For example this photo was taken from Romare Bearden Park which is surrounded by several tall apartment buildings. The lighting contrast is an enjoyable challenge.

Bearden park is an active park with many events. As a result the park it’s own twitter account, website, and wikipedia article.

Street map you can walk on

An interesting piece of art, at street map you can walk on, is found at the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts and Culture in Uptown Charlotte
I find this piece of art very interesting. It is a street map you can walk on. You can literally step up and stroll the streets of uptown Charlotte.

The art can be found at the intersection of South Tryon and West Stonewall. The art can be found outside of the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts and Culture. This a link to their website.

encountering synergy

encountering synergy; Jogging past Synergy Coverage Solutions in Uptown Charlotte
encountering synergy … The weather was nice this weekend which encouraged outdoor activity such as jogging or as Connie and were doing … strolling from one coffee shop to the next.

I like that the photo opportunity presented itself as we meet the joggers just as they passed the Synergy offices … resulting in an interesting photo … a sort of synergy (smile)

This photo was taken in the 200 block of South Tryon and the business adding an assist to this photo opportunity is Synergy Coverage Solutions.

thin building

A thin building in Uptown Charlotte
Today’s photo is symbolic … a thin building depicting a thin line between progress and and big step back … between good and bad … between at-a-boy and oh-snap … thing is I accidentally deleted the database for Charlotte daily photo … so at this point there are no archival post.

However as in the picture everything depends on your perspective. I have all of the photos backed up and this gives me a chance to re-load them and a chance to update the post with a focus on the search engine optimization … I’m trying to look at this with a positive perspective (smile).

The photo is of the Omni Hotel in Independence Square located at the intersection of Trade and Tryon in Uptown Charlotte.

futo buta ramen restaurant

A photo of a futo .. actually the futo buta ramen restaurant in the South End near Uptown Charlotte
This a photo of a futo … actually the futo buta ramen restaurant soon to open in the South End next to the Bland Station on the Light Rail … I took the photo because I liked the play on words … however we also plan to try the restaurant … their Facebook page says … Everything Plus Noodles!

Note that they have a really nice outdoor patio with lantern lighting.

rail trail vision

rail trail vision - A green space with a view of Uptown Charlotte
I have a suggestion for the Rail Trail Vision. This is a really nice green space with a great view of the Charlotte skyline. However no one can get to the space because it is inside a looping exit from the interstate. How about building a pedestrian overpass to the green space (smile).

Actually the rail trail vision has plans for a three mile park connecting green spaces along the light rail tracks in the Southend.

This photo was taken at the intersection of South College Street and Morehead Street.
