brass band at Taste of Charlotte

brass band at Taste of Charlotte
This brass band at Taste of Charlotte drew a big crowd. In addition to being good and entertaining they also had one very young performer. You will be pleased to know that I contributed to their donation bucket. A piece of wisdom, read on facebook, said if a street performed gets you to stop then you own them a donation.

The photo was taken at the intersection of Trade and Tryon. The event was a Taste of Charlotte 2015.

couple enjoying the view

A couple enjoying the view of Uptown Charlotte
Recently I took this photo of a couple enjoying the view of Uptown Charlotte. I thought they made a good follow-up to the bridal photo shoot shared yesterday. Better yet I’ll will an eye out for a family with children or a mature couple holding hands as they stroll. There are all sorts of follow-up photos for a bridal photo shoot (smile).

This photo was taken at the Fahrenheit rooftop lounge at 222 South Caldwell Street in Uptown Charlotte.

theme day – stylish

theme day - stylish is in the eye of the beholder. art found at the Mint Museum in Uptown Charlotte
Style is in the eye of the beholder. To me this is a great alternative to wearing a tie (smile). Today is theme day – stylish … in the City Daily Photo community. This theme presented some real challenges for me. Last weekend we were at a great lounge and many young ladies were dressed quite stylishly … not ready to be told no I let the opportunity pass … then I found that the Mint Museum in Uptown Charlotte had a special Holston and Warhol exhibit from March 7th through June 14th … a perfect opportunity because there was some serious stylish going on … however no photos were allowed … so we also went to see the second special exhibit called body embellishment … not really my cup of tea until I found that some of the pieces of art had Safe for Social signs … once confirming the signs meaning with the guard I snapped this photo with my iPhone and will now dutifully include a #TheMintMuseum hash tag. Also, I should share that the art was created by Swiss artist David Bielander

Visit the City Daily Photo theme day and enjoy interpretations of stylish from around the world.

PS: Checkout the Daily Photo Collage. It is a fast fun way to see the photos from the City Daily Photo community. Hover over each thumbnail you will see who posted, from where, the title, and when the post was made. Click on the photo and you are taken to the site … enjoy!

Cover Up your style

Cover Up your style .. art at the Mint Museum
This is a reminder to not cover up your style … tomorrow is monthly City Daily Photo theme day and the theme is stylish .. join us tomorrow for interpretations of stylish from photo bloggers around the world.

The art in today’s photo is called Cover Up and was created by Bob Trotman. It is on display at the Mint Museum in Uptown Charlotte. The plaque indicated that the art conveys “visual warmth and frankness with a startling since of isolation”

I was especially pleased to find that the Mint allows photography in their permanent exhibit galleries. Also, in their special exhibit galleries there were a few pieces of art marked safe for social complete with a recommended hash tag of #TheMintMuseum

This photo was taken at the Mint Museum Uptown which is near the intersection of Levine Avenue of the Arts and South Tryon.

fire pit at Fahrenheit rooftop lounge

The fire pit at Fahrenheit rooftop lounge in Uptown Charlotte
On a recent evening out I took this photo of a fire pit at Fahrenheit rooftop lounge. Interestingly the fire pit is enjoyable even in May however I suspect they will have to turn them off by June or July.

This photo was taken at 222 S Caldwell Street. Following is a link to the website for Chef Rocco Whale at the Fahrenheit. His website says he also has made the 2011 list of best food trucks in the nation. The website also says the Fahrenheit food truck is available for your party. Connie asked if they will park on the roof (smile).

flags at half mast

Flags as half mast on Memorial Day in Charlotte
Flags at half mast on Memorial Day … I was pleased to see this act of honor for men and women who died while in the military service … and I was especially touched by a photo my sister posted on facebook showing a flag on our father grave … he served in World War II and for the rest of his life Dad placed flags on the gravestones of veterans on the Sunday before Memorial Day.

This photo was taken at 600 East 4th Street. Also, the following is a link to the Memorial Day Wikipedia article.

First Baptist Church

First Baptist Church in Uptown Charlotte
Today’s photo is of the First Baptist Church as seen from the Fahrenheit Restaurant & Lounge on top of the Skye Condos in Uptown Charlotte. I like this photo because it contrast to yesterday’s photo which had a perspective of looking upward while this shows the view from one of those tall buildings. You can see that Uptown Charlotte is not all office towers. There is room for churches and parks and low-rise hotels and apartments. Mostly I like that the photo shows that Uptown had an abundance of trees (smile).

This photo was taken at 222 S Caldwell St looking toward the South West. Following is a link for the First Baptist Church website and the Fahrenheit Restaurant & Lounge Facebook page.
