Today’s photo shows the YMCA on a quite Sunday afternoon. This branch is in Uptown Charlotte and is connected to the Overstreet Mall and all of the office towers. As a results on weekdays the scene is much busier.

UNC Charlotte has large campus North East of uptown however they also maintain a unique presence in Uptown.
Interestingly the uniqueness is not just the offset floors … notice the windows.

It was exciting and a little embarrassing to discover a new building in Uptown Charlotte. This building is located three blocks from where we live and was constructed in the last year.
Seriously I must be working too hard.

This is the view from our balcony in Uptown Charlotte. No green grass on this side of our condo complex. However, the view does have an appeal.
Three Wells Fargo Center is located at 401 South Tryon.
The Charlotte Plaza stands out against blue sky. I especially like the cloud reflection which blends nicely with the cloud behind the building.
The building is being remodeled at present although you cannot see that in this photo.
The Charlotte Plaza is found at 201 South College.
The recently opened Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel has a roof top bar which we have attempted to visit twice. However it is closed on Sundays and that is the day we keep trying. Maybe the front desk will let management know there is an opportunity on Sunday because they are having to turn people away ;)

Today’s photo shows the 330 South Tryon building, Charlotte’s newest office tower. The photo was taken from my office window.
Look to the left and you see the entrance to Latta Arcade. I like the blooming trees in front. You may remember my recent photo showing the inside of Latta Arcade
I took this photo because I liked the contrast of shadows and sunlight. The red brick building, in the background, sits behind Saint Peters Catholic Church and as you can see the building has a modern “church architecture“.
The building houses a pizza restaurant, a steak restaurant, and office space.

On a recent stroll I was surprised to see horses on Tryon. The scene is similar to a recent photo titled Dog Crossing. Both the horses and the dogs have little bit of a Beatles Abbey Road album cover feel.

This photo shows a wider angle from yesterday’s photo. The building in the foreground is the Harvey B. Gantt Center, for African American Arts and Culture. It is a beautiful building with interesting architecture and outstanding exhibits … the parking lot, in the photo, will soon be a new office tower.

This photo presented challenges given the shadow and light contrast. In addition there was distortion, in the angle of the buildings, which is a common challenge with close up skylines. Thanks to photo shop I was pleased with the results.
