Painting in the park, looks relaxing. Interestingly this was a class. There was a instructor on hand to make the photo perfect.

At Discovery Place science is fun. As the signs say you can play, build, and touch science.
We have taken our grandson several times and look forward to our next visit. The most memorable visit was when they demonstrated fire and explosions ;). We also enjoyed a tour of our solar system, the construction of a robot, stuffing newspaper in an air cannon, building six foot tall towers, and numerous other activities.

Our preference is to enjoy the Dandelion Market on Sunday afternoons when the bar is quite. However for those in search of a crowd the time to go is Friday or Saturday night. They also have a big crowd at brunch. Maybe because if the Bloody Mary bar ;)

This statue is one of four at the intersection of Trade and Tryon in uptown Charlotte. The scene depicts a miner poring gold on the head of a banker!
The art work is called Commerce.
Personally I like that each statue is two separate pieces of art detecting an aspect of Charlotte’s history.

This photo was taken on a recent stroll in Uptown. We have not been yet however we will go soon.
The website says it’s a Nationally Acclaimed Contemporary Arts Center.
The McColl Center for Art and Innovation is at 721 North Tryon.

Brunch at the Dandelion Market includes a very popular bloody mary bar. We found the food very good but the noise level too high. I suspect that brunch on Sunday morning will be a little quieter.

On a walk through the 4th Ward I noticed this gentleman pruning the flowers in his front yard. The lighting made for a nice photo. Actually this house is across the street from Alexander Michael’s tavern where I enjoyed a hamburg and wine.
This photo was taken near Alexander Michael’s tavern at 401 W 9th Street.

This shows how enjoyable a 4th ward bicycle ride can be. The trees, lovely side streets, and the strolling neighbors are very pleasant.
The photo was taken near 400 North Poplar Street.

Connie and I were walking home from an evening stroll and notice a person taking photos … naturally I went to see what he was taking photos of and found this continuum fresco by Ben Long … it is at 401 North Tryon Street and open for the public to enjoy.
Note that the fresco is in a dome and an interesting point I found is that if you set your smartphone on a timer you can place it in the center of the pattern on the sidewalk and take fairly cool selfie with Ben (smile).

This is the 4th Ward Park as seen on an evening stroll in Uptown Charlotte. We enjoyed the walk and a good meal at Al Mike’s Tavern which is next to the 4th Ward.
This photo was taken near the intersection of West 7th Street and North Pine Street. Also, following is a link to the Al Mike Tavern website which is officially Alexander Michael’s Restaurant and Tavern.

I think of this house as 4th ward blue … we walk past it on our strolls through the 4th Ward and it certainly is blue (smile). It is nice to see that Uptown Charlotte has room for houses as well as office towers.

On a stroll through the 4th Ward we took this photo of The Vue Luxury Apartments. They have an interesting past and a very successful occupancy. To read more checkout the following article in the Charlotte Observer: The Vue once a symbol of recession, now draws renters paying a premium.
